A major accolade for DocToRead: our solution for translating medical reports and doctors’ letters into plain language has won two awards at the German Innovation Award ’26. DocToRead received both the “Winner” award and the highest honour, “Gold”.
The German Innovation Award is presented by the renowned German Design Council, which has been honouring companies and innovations that set new standards with forward-looking ideas since 1953. The award recognises solutions that impress through user-centricity, innovative strength and sustainable added value.
DocToRead supports hospitals, medical practices and health insurance providers in making medical information more accessible and easier to understand. The web-based platform automatically translates medical reports and doctor’s letters into plain language and into more than 20 languages. This provides patients with immediately understandable information on diagnoses and treatments – without placing any additional burden on medical staff.
The jury of the German Innovation Award particularly highlighted that DocToRead addresses a key challenge in the healthcare sector: the clear communication of complex medical content. The intuitive usability, the medically validated approach and the noticeable reduction in workload in everyday medical practice were also rated positively. Improved communication not only reduces the number of follow-up enquiries but also sustainably increases patient satisfaction and the quality of care.
This double accolade confirms our commitment to developing digital innovations that deliver real benefits for patients and healthcare organisations. In an increasingly complex healthcare system, clear communication is becoming ever more important – regardless of language, prior knowledge or background.
